Phys Ed and Wellness

-Demonstrate decision making through the application of strategies and tactics.
-Combine movement skills to perform movement patterns in a variety of physical activities.
-Perform movement patterns using various types of equipment, individually and with others.
-Consider sequencing and repetition of movement patterns when engaging in locomotor, no-locomotor, and object-manipulation activities.


What Did Students Do?

This week, students played a variety of games during Phys Ed to develop their accuracy when throwing at a target.  On Take Me Outside Day, student went outside, got into teams and played a game where they had to throw a beanbag onto circle targets. Students also celebrated successes with their teams and opponents. In the gym, Students practiced throwing beanbags at targets on the gym wall, teamed together to take down "Ghosts", Worked as a team to clear the bench of pilons, and practiced tossing a ball to a partner's scoop.

·       November 8th – System Indigenous Learning Day  

·       November 11th – Remembrance Day – no school for staff or students  

·       November 12th – Fall Break – no school for staff or students  

·       November 13th – Fall Break – no school for staff or students  

·       November 14th – Students & staff return from Fall Break

Students demonstrate how collaboration influences physical activity. What Did Students Do? Students were involved in playing various territorial and invasion games such as Two-Ball, Castle, Tail Tag, and Three Ball. For all of these games, teamwork skills and strategizing was very important. Students needed to collaborate, communicate, and cooperate in order to achieve success. They were involved in kicking, running, throwing, and tagging. Each team needed to focus on defense while defending their territory and offense while invading the territory of the other team. With games such as two-ball there were many things happening all at once so they needed to be alert and aware. Students were engaged and excited to participate. We stopped regularly to evaluate what was working and what we needed to change so students had a voice in how the games progress...

Sunday, May 11, 2025   May 5-9 Wellness Students examine the effect of motivation on physical activity. Students analyze and apply strategies and tactics that support improved decision making in physical activities. Students demonstrate how collaboration influences physical activity. Students reflect and relate life experiences to perseverance and well-being. Students analyze responsibility and consider the impact on well-being. Students acknowledge and connect perspectives of self and others through communication and listening skills. December 9 - 13 ELAL Students enhance the accuracy and artistry of expression through creative and critical thinking processes. Establish a plot, point of view, setting, and problem through creative writing. What Did Students Do?: On Monday and Tuesday, students were given a pre-assessment for narrative writing. Using a picture prompt they wrote a story about the picture. This gave us, as teachers the opportunity to see where our students are at with their writing and what next steps we need to take to further their skills in narrative writing. On Wednesday students examined the elements of a narrative story: beginning, middle, end, problem, solution, character, and setting. Students used graphic organizers to examine the parts of their own story. They then looked at non-examples of written stories and identified the parts that were weak or missing.
